Daniel starting playing Alto Saxophone in 1994 in middle school. He started in classical music with the Royal Conservatory of music but this music didn't speak to him. He started playing in jazz band in school and fell in love with the liberties afforded to jazz musicians while soloing as well as the big band aesthetic. Despite being an alto player his first love was John Coltrane's music. He was transfixed by his tone, virtuosity, and spiritual seeking. In 2017 he made the leap to tenor and never looked back. His influences include Bob Reynolds, Joel Frahm, Sonny Stitt, Vince Herring, Eric Alexander, Joshua Redman, Ben Wendell, and John Coltrane.
Spanning three decades of experience Daniel has played on National and International stages including l'Escalier in Montreal, Quebec, Montgomery Scotch Lounge , Cock and Lion, The After Eight, Options Jazz Lounge, Irene's pub, Bar Robo, Festival Japan, Grill 41, Live on Elgin In Ottawa Canada, Toulouse Lautrec in London U.K as well as multiple venues in Funchal Portugal.
In addition, he has had the honour of sharing the stage with prominent local band “The Commotions” as well as Juno award winner Ed Lister as a guest with his Quintet.
